A Tiger is a massive ferocious carnivore of unbelievable aggression and power. They can run up to 56 kph and weigh up to 258 Kg (569 Pounds). Tigers have been known to jump up to five meters off the ground to swipe at people on elephants, people hanging from tree limbs, or sometimes over zoo walls to a taunting observer.

The tiger was voted the world's favorite animal In a poll conducted by Animal Planet, narrowly beating the dog. More than 50,000 viewers from 73 countries voted in the poll. Tigers received 21% of the vote, dogs 20%, dolphins 13%, horses 10%, lions 9%, snakes 8%, followed by elephants, chimpanzees, orangutans and whales.

There are an estimated 12,000 tigers kept as private pets in the USA.
